The Manitoba government is excited to support the Economic Development Council for Manitoba Bilingual Municipalities (CDEM) in their stand-alone promotional mission to Douala, Cameroon, named Destination Manitoba. From November 28 to 30, 2023, CDEM will be promoting Manitoba as an immigration destination of choice to skilled French-speaking and bilingual candidates in new markets.

To provide leadership on economic immigration and settlement in Manitoba, the Manitoba government has selected members of the Advisory Council on Economic Immigration and Settlement (ACEIS) following a call for applications, as announced by Labour and Immigration Minister Jon Reyes on July 13, 2023.
While ACEIS was in the process of being formed, the Manitoba government had already begun working toward achieving recommendations of the Immigration Advisory Council (IAC) report four months after the report was finalized. To date, five items have been completed and another 39 are in the process of completion. Remaining recommendations will be actioned based on interdepartmental collaboration and engagement with community partners.

All requests must be submitted using the new Skilled Worker Webform. The MPNP is committed to processing all requests received via the webform within 10 business days. Incomplete requests may exceed this processing period.
The Manitoba government is providing a total of $4 million to 24 newcomer service provider organizations whose projects were selected through the Newcomer Community Integration Support (NCIS) program – Newcomer Community Connections Stream, Labour and Immigration Minister Jon Reyes announced today.
“Attracting and retaining new immigrants has been identified as a key factor in Manitoba’s post-pandemic economic recovery,” said Reyes. “This funding supports our government’s vision of a skilled and talented Manitoba, a key component of which is to welcome newcomers and ensure they are able to participate fully in the community and contribute to a growing economy.”
The NCIS program provides financial support to projects that enhance the social and economic integration of newcomers. This program offers a total of $7.1 million in funding this year including $3 million for Manitoba Start and $120,000 for Recognition Counts. In February, the Manitoba government announced it was accepting applications for the Newcomer Community Connections Stream, which will receive $4 million in funding.
The $4 million in funding, which doubles last year’s investment, will be distributed amongst 24 successful projects. Of the approved projects, the Manitoba government is also making a three-year funding commitment to 12 projects, ensuring there are no interruptions to the delivery of programs that represent a baseline of services that are essential to the settlement and integration of newcomers to Manitoba.
Labour and Immigration Minister Jon Reyes announced today that the Manitoba government is accepting applications for the Advisory Council on Economic Immigration and Settlement (ACEIS), which will inform the development of a comprehensive, multi-sector strategy to attract and retain immigrants, streamline the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program and enhance settlement services.

On March 17, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced that international graduates with a recently expired or expiring post-graduation work permit (PGWP) will qualify for an additional or extended work permit to stay longer and gain additional work experience for up to 18 months.
Foreign nationals whose PGWP has already expired in 2023 and those who were eligible for the 2022 PGWP facilitative measure will also have the opportunity to apply for an additional 18-month work permit. Those with expired work permits will be able to restore their status, even if they are beyond the 90-day restoration period, and will receive an interim work authorization while awaiting processing of their new work permit application.

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) will be participating in the upcoming Emigratiebeurs Emigration Expo and Career Fair in Houten (Utrecht), Netherlands from April 1 to 2, 2023.
The Expo is one of Europe’s largest events for emigrants. Farmers, students, entrepreneurs, and job seekers with diverse experience will be in attendance. The MPNP will be promoting its Farm Investor Pathway, Business Investor Stream, and Skilled Worker Stream to attract potential immigrants from a wide variety of fields to Manitoba.

As of March 15, 2023, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program has updated the process for provincial nominees to request work permit support letters (WPSL). The updated process can be found on the Work Permit Support Letters page, including the request form.
The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program is requiring all work permit support letter requests use the new process.
Requests for work permit support letters should be submitted at least two months before your current work permit expires to allow sufficient time to process the request.
