Work while you study and after you graduate

If you are a full-time post secondary student enrolled at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) you may be able to work while you are enrolled in school. International students who graduate from a DLI may also be eligible to apply for a post-graduation work permit (PGWP).

Note: Not all programs offered at DLIs are eligible. For more information on working in Canada as a student, please visit Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)’s website.

Internship opportunities

A variety of internship opportunities are available for both international and domestic students in Manitoba. If you are considering immigrating to Manitoba after you graduate from a master’s or doctoral program, Accelerate and Elevate internships completed with Mitacs can make your provincial nomination process even quicker.

Visit the International Education Stream page for details.

Immigrating after graduation

When you graduate, stay in Manitoba to build your career and establish a new home. The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) prioritizes international students who have graduated from Manitoba institutions and offers a direct pathway to permanent residence through the International Education Stream.
