The video series My Home is Manitoba showcases our province's unique multicultural heritage and the benefits of cultural diversity. The video speaks mainly to new immigrants, breaking down the stereotypes they sometimes face, although all Manitobans will find it interesting. There are four 15-minute segments, each with a facilitator's guide that can also be used for self-directed learning.

Citizenship Study Materials for Newcomers to Manitoba (17 MB PDF file)

This resource can be used for self-study or with a facilitator to help newcomers prepare for their citizenship test. It is based on the 2011 Discover Canada study guide. This resource is written in plain English and includes activities for facilitators.

National resources

The Centre for Canadian Language Benchmarks (CCLB) is the centre of expertise in support of the national standards in English and French for describing, measuring and recognizing second language proficiency of adult immigrants and prospective immigrants for living and working in Canada.

The CCLB offers a range of information for learners, including information about self-assessment, assessment centres, and a plain language guide to the Canadian Language Benchmarks called Can Do Statements. Visit the For Language Learners section of the CCLB website for more information.
